The family behind MediNav
Hi, I'm Charles Brodsky, Chuck to just about everyone. I'm 60 years old, I live in Washington, DC with my wife Michelle, and between us we're chasing around a 6-year-old and an 8-year-old who think Medicare is a type of dinosaur. My mom is 88 and lives in Florida. Michelle's dad is 73 and lives in Michigan. Like a lot of families, ours is spread out across time zones, generations, and group texts. Somewhere in the middle of raising little kids, we realized our parents were quietly navigating one of the most confusing systems in American life, mostly on their own.
We started MediNav because we hit a wall trying to help. We didn't know what benefits our parents were entitled to, what they might be missing, or how to loop in our siblings without turning every phone call into a spreadsheet. Nobody hands you a manual when your mom turns 65 or when your father-in-law gets a letter he can't quite make sense of. What we found, over and over, was that there's real money and real help out there. Extra Help, Savings Programs, Medicaid, prescription discounts, appeals rights. But it's all buried under jargon, deadlines, and a hundred websites that sound like they were written by a lawyer in a hurry.
We're just a family that got tired of guessing, and decided to build better tools for the rest of us.
So we built the thing we wished we'd had. MediNav is for the adult kid trying to help a parent from three states away. It's for the sibling who got voluntold to “handle the Medicare stuff.” It's for the spouse doing the quiet work of keeping track of appointments, letters, and premiums. And just as much, it's for older folks who want to sit down at their own kitchen table, in their own time, and figure this out for themselves, without a salesperson on the other end of the line. We're not the government, we don't take commissions, and we don't sell your information.
